KNOWING OUR GROWERS

We work with Swedish family coffee company, Löfbergs Lila.  Their people search out the very best ethical beans for our four delicious coffees. They go to places like Guatemala, Ethiopia and Columbia.  They visit coffee farms and meet farmers. They buy more Fairtrade coffee than anyone else in Europe.  Find out about who grew your coffee and where.

ASOBARGRI, GUATEMALA

Produced by a group of Mayan Indians who farm in Huehuetenango, one of Guatemala’s top coffee growing districts.  The farmers founded the Asobagri association in 1989 after a period of political violence and increasing poverty.

ASOBARGRI, GUATEMALA

Asobagri is Fairtrade (FLO) certified; each producer grows high quality organic and Fairtrade coffee.  Training and technical assistance from the association helps growers achieve exceptionally high standards.  Asobagri builds roads so that farmers can transport their beans easily and loans local women money to start small businesses.

KACHALU, COLOMBIA

Produced by a small group of enterprising farmers calling themselves Kachalu - meaning hope.  They share the aims of producing more environmentally friendly coffee, protecting their rich wildlife habitat and preventing water contamination.  Economic conditions forced many of their neighbours to abandon farms or convert to other crops.

KACHALU, COLOMBIA

Kachalu is part of the Rainforest Alliance which works with coffee growers to cultivate beans sustainably and protect the people and wildlife that depend on the land. Rigorous standards developed by scientists, NGOs, coffee growers and community members mean better pay, housing, education and healthcare for coffee growing families.

SIDAMA, ETHIOPIA

Produced by a group of Ethiopian coffee farmers in the Sidamo district of southern Ethiopia.  The Sidama cooperative promotes high quality coffee. It helps members develop relationships with buyers, exports coffee, provides warehousing, educates and trains, and offers saving and credit services.
